New Music Friday Ft. The Lumineers, MGMT, Hayley Williams, And More

Jeremiah Fraites, Wesley Schultz and Byron Isaacs from The Lumineers perform onstage at Wizink Center on November 02, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

Music makes us happy. And discovering new music makes us even happier! Here’s some new music out this week that’ll have you smiling and dancing, if only for a little bit!

The Lumineers – “Have You Ever Seen The Rain”

The Lumineers have teamed up with the folks at Spotify to release an exclusive Spotify Singles version of “Have You Seen The Rain?”. The Lumineers previously covered this CCR hit back in 2019, when Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites snuck backstage while shooting for The Stephen Colbert Late Show, but now it’s finally available for download. Along with this cover, the band also released a Spotify Singles version of their song “Salt And Sea” from their newest album III.

MGMT – “As You Move Through The World”

MGMT have released a “7 and a half minute downtempo ambient instrumental track” titled “As You Move Through The World.” Ironically, it arrives during a time when many of us are being mandated to stay at home. The track serves as the B-side to the song “In The Afternoons,” which arrived late last year. On social media, MGMT stated that the new track was released earlier than anticipated due to show cancellations in both Mexico and Texas.

Haley William – “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris”

Hayley Williams was scheduled to release the second installment of her new album Petals for Armor this week, but the current state of the world has caused it to be delayed. Never one to disappoint, the former Paramore singer released a single titled “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris.” The new song features background vocals from the super-group Boygenius which consists of Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker—stream it now below. The second installment of Petals for Armor is now scheduled to arrive on May 8th.
