What’s your name, major and where are you from?
My name is Priyal. I’m a journalism major, and I’m from Frisco, Texas.
What made you want to intern with Waterloo?
I love creating content and media, and I love the work that they’re doing at Waterloo Media with all the radio shows. I’m so excited to be bringing all their radio shows to the digital space and helping them with content.
What’s a random fun fact about you? Go to coffee order?
I love coffee, and I’ve actually been a barista at two different coffee shops. My go-to coffee order is an iced hazelnut latte. I feel like it’s a classic, it’s perfect in the summer, the winter, any time of the year.
Do you have a favorite band or artist?
Currently, my favorite artist is Olivia Dean. I’ve been loving her music. She’s been going super viral, and she’s just an amazing singer. I think she’s just opened for Sabrina Carpenter, and she’s really having her moment.
Favorite thing about Austin?
My favorite thing about Austin is the food. There is just so much good food in the city, and I feel like I’ve tried so many places, but there’s still so much more that is on my list.
Do you have a dream job after graduation?
I don’t necessarily have a dream job after graduation, but I would really love to work in media production or working with documentaries. I don’t know. We’ll see where the wind takes me.

My name is Abi. I’m a journalism major, and I am from Conroe, Texas.
What made you want to intern with Waterloo?
I’m a huge music fan, so I’m constantly taking in everything related to music. I figured, why not work somewhere where I can continue to learn and talk about music with people who probably feel the same way.
What’s a random fun fact about you?
After I graduate this summer, I am interrailing Europe. I’ll be starting in Italy, and who knows where I’ll end up. The travel aspect is definitely an exciting part of it, but I really can’t wait to interview and document the different music cultures across countries. I have so many project ideas.
Do you have a favorite band or artist?
My favorite artist will forever be Jeff Buckley. Seriously, I could talk about him for hours. He’s a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. Plus, my middle name is ‘Grace,’ so he definitely wrote his 1994 debut about me.
Favorite thing about Austin?
My favorite thing about Austin is how much there is to do in such a small amount of space. All the great music venues are blocks apart, and there’s nature everywhere you look.
Do you have a dream job after graduation?
I don’t have a dream company or anything, but I absolutely will be finding a way to write about music. Whether that’s touring alongside chaotic rock n roll bands like in ‘Almost Famous,’ or doing fun work inside a newsroom, I can’t wait.
