Smashing Pumpkins first act contains 40 minutes of new music!
The Pumpkins are releasing their massive rock opera in three parts, the entirety should be out in April. The first single released was “Beguiled,” but was not featured in the first act. Not including ‘Beguiled’ the first 11 songs add up to 40 minutes of new music. A trend of albums becoming shorter and more concise makes this album a massive project in comparison.
Some reviews critique the lack of major rock rhythm guitar, though Billy Corgan has crafted excellent projects lacking heavy guitar tracks. ATUM will definitely be an interesting sequel to their prior rock operas, 1995’s ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ and 2000’s ‘Machina/The Machines Of God.’
