Everyone is on vacation which means the duty of selecting some tunes for New Music Friday falls on me, your Captain friend CJ Morgan. Since I don’t often get this chance I thought it would be fun to get a little weird.
Silversun Pickups
Since we are giving away tickets all weekend long, I thought it best to start New Music Friday with the Silversun Pickups. Widow’s Weeds came out earlier this year but the big news was this week’s tour announcement which includes an Austin date: Feb. 19th at Stubbs.
Chromatics
The Chromatics recently released their fifth studio album, Closer to Grey, and this haunting cover of Sound of Silence really stuck with me.
Bombay Bicycle Club
No they are not named after the former Austin club but they have played at quite a few Austin clubs. I watched them at Emos back in 2015 and haven’t heard much since which is why I am excited for the new album, Everything Else Has Gone Wrong, which came out today. It’s spacey fun Britpop to headphone out to.
