Hey, would you lookie here. Washed Out (aka Ernest Greene) is back on the scene with a new album that is set for release in August. Paracosm is the follow up to the brilliant 2011 LP, Within and Without. Greene of Washed Out is one of the original founders of the "chillwave" movement (along with Neon Indian, Toro y Moi, Small Black, etc.), which was a pretty big start to something new in the electronic genre. I'm curious to see how much of that old style will be apparent on the new album. Today's catch is the first single off the much anticipated LP, and it's called "It All Feels Right". Expect a Fall tour from Washed Out once the album is released. In the meantime, you can listen to "It Feels All Right" in the YouTube player below (Official Lyric Video). The Scottish duo known as Boards of Canada are back on the scene, and will be releasing a brand new album entitled Tomorrow's Harvest on 6/11. This will mark their return to music since an EP that was released in 2006. The interesting thing about this album is that it absolutely came from nowhere. The whole album was completely hush-hush, and it's origination came in the form of cryptic advertising involving numbers to decode and audio clips of sound that was released on vinyl during Record Store Day 2013. All of the mystery surrounding the white labeled vinyl and the secret code finally pointed to the upcoming release of their latest project. Very clever! Today's catch is my favorite off Tomorrow's Harvest, and it's called "Come to Dust". There are very few bands that can do the whole synthesized ambience and ethereal vibe as well as Boards of Canada...and this LP absolutely ...

The hugely-buzzy-at-SXSW Scottish three-piece Chvrches were back for a sweaty, sold-out Mohawk show Wednesday night. Miss the show? We hear they'll be back around these parts this fall, supporting their September-released debut album. Catch the excellent studio performance of "Lies" below--it's just like being there Wednesday, minus the sweat.

The UK siblings known as Disclosure (Guy and Howard Lawrence) have finally completed their first full length album, and it will be made available to everyone in a couple of days. The LP is called Settle, and it's been one of the most highly anticipated records since they came onto the seen a year ago. Now you already know the song "Latch", which we play quite often on Chillville. So now let me introduce you to a brand new track, which happens to be today's "catch". It's called "Defeated No More", and it features Friendly Fires' Ed Macfarlane on vocals (pretty impressive collaboration). This song, like all of the others, takes me back to the dance music scene of the mid to early 90's, when house was the style of choice by many club DJ's. Today's catch comes from a very eclectic sounding artist, whose talent has gone below the radar...and that artist is Mayer Hawthorne. On 7/16, he will be releasing his upcoming LP entitled Where Does This Door Go?, and the first single off that album happens to be today's Catch of the Day. "Her Favorite Song" is pop...it's funk...it's soul...it's jazz...it's one of the best songs I've heard this year. This fantastic track has one of the most infectious melody, beat, and chorus, which atribute to the multiple sound styles. Hawthorne's vocals are so smooth and filled with soul, that you would think you were listening to Pharrell or Adam Levine. But it's not either one of them. Just when you think the song can't get any better, it does. The beautiful vocals of Jessie Ware come chiming in at the most chilled-out point of the chorus...Amazing! This song is so good, ...
