So my favorite nerd-synth band, Hot Chip, is putting the final touches on their latest LP since last years Made in the Dark. The album entitled One Life Stand is set for release on February 8, 2010. According to the band, the new album will be similar to 2008's Made in the Dark with a little bit slower beats, and an almost disco-like sound. Today's "catch" is the first single off the new album entitled "Take It In". Expect a U.S. tour some time next spring or summer as a follow up to the album release. The 1991 release of Saint Etienne's Foxbase Alpha turned out to be one of the biggest pop albums of that year, and still remains a brilliant record. Well, 18 years later the brit-pop trio has decided to release a Deluxe Edition along with a remixed version of Foxbase Alpha, cleverly titled Foxbase Beta. Now the remix cd was done by producer Richard X, who has a history of remixing and working with some of the biggest act around. He has taken the original album (samples, tracks, order of songs, etc...) and basically brought the album into 2009. None of the remixes are too far off from the originals, which gives it a more current feel. Today's catch is my favorite remix on the new album called "Like the Swallow". Faye Jackson, director of the film Strigoi, joined us in the studio this morning during her visit for the Austin Film Festival. The Australian pop pixie is back with a new track, "Under the Milky Way", that you may have heard recently on a new commercial for Lincoln. It also happens to be a classic '80's post-modern cover track from The Church. Sia may be well recognized for her highly successful collaborations with Zero 7; however, she has reached a lot of notoriety as a solo artist. Well, 2010 looks to be a big year for her with the release of her fifth solo album entitled We Are Born, and with some appearances on the soon to be released album by Christina Aguilera. Yes, I said it...Christina Aguilera. Apparently, the two are great friends now since working together on Aguilera's album, which coincidentally will feature collaborations with Zero 7's Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. What a small world. (10/18/09) Monty's Catch of the Day - LCD Soundsystem

James Murphy has once again shown that he is one of the most talanted musician out right now with the release of today's catch, "Bye Bye Bayou". The LCD Soundsystem frontman has just released the latest single, which happens to be a cover track from Alan Vega's 1980 release. The creators of National Record Store day will host another event called Vinyl Saturday, which allows you to buy exclusive and rare vinyl to support local records stores. LCD plans on releasing the 12" vinyl on Vinyl Saturday, November 7, and through digital download on November 24. Also, plan on seeing a brand new full length LCD Soundsystem album early next year. For the time being, you can listen to a clip of "Bye Bye Bayou" in the player above. Enjoy!
