The Weekend 420 Buzz: February 3rd – February 5th

Weekend 420 Buzz Smoking Burnouts
Things to do in Austin this weekend. When and where to do them. Brought to you by:ย Smoking Burnouts

Friday, February 3rd

Winter Party/Die Spitz Album Party | 9 p.m. | Hotel Vegas

“The boy band with titz” are steadily wracking up hype among the Austin music scene. Die Spitz have earned a reputation for their outlandish and energetic stage presence. The band will be celebrating their debut album, “Teeth” accompanied by performances from bands, Tear Dungeon and Rose Hips. Head to Hotel Vegas this Friday to see what all the talk is about. RSVP to the 21+ event here. $10 cash at the door.

Chalkfest | 7 p.m. | Far Out Lounge

The buzz of Austin Psych Fest and SXSW has got me itching to go to a music festival. If you’re anything like me, then Chalkfest is the perfect way to scratch that festival itch. Chalkfest features performances from experimental bands like AlexAlone, Sad Cell, Chalk, and Typical Girls. I’ve seen all of these bands live and can vouch that they are WELL worth the watch. Along with live music, festival-goers have the chance to experience several light shows. If you get hungry, food trucks will be available on-site! Chalkfest will continue through Saturday, February 4th. Buy tickets here.

Saturday, February 4th

Being Dead | 10 p.m. | Sagebrush

Being Dead is one of my favorite bands to emerge from Austin’s music scene. Being Dead’s quirky sound mixed with a bit of garage rock edge is sure to charm any listener. The band’s unique sound combined with the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere of Sagebrush will make for the perfect night out. If you’re looking for a lowkey bar to shoot some pool and enjoy up-and-coming bands, get to Sagebrush this Saturday. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Open Canopy is an East Austin event that takes place on the first Saturday of every month. More on Open Canopy here.

Jo’s 16th Annual Chili Cook-off | 12 p.m. | Jo’s Coffee
