About That Staff Pick: Get To Know England’s Sea Girls

Named for a mis-heard Nick Cave lyric, Sea Girls got their start after frontman Henry Camomile and drummer Oli Khan made their way from Leicester to London, meeting up there with schoolmates, guitarist Rory Young and bass player Andrew Nosrad. Since that  2015 genesis, Sea Girls are three EPs in, with another due next March. The forthcoming one, Under Exit Lights, will feature the song you’re hearing on 101X, “Violet.”  Ogle the official clip:

With Sea Girls in America for a mere handful of dates to open December (none close by), these fingers are crossed for a SXSW appearance adjacent to Exit Lights’ arrival.  Apparently the live sets are something to behold, capturing enough attention for the band to play some of the biggest UK and European fests this year, and to be invited on a Foals run through eastern Europe. Here’s a live version of another Sea Girls fave of mine, “All I Want To Hear You Say”:

So, listen for Sea Girls on 101X for a while. Thoughts?  Hit me up
