Spurs’ Manu Ginobili Announces Retirement

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili, forty-one, announced Monday that he is retiring. Manu Ginobili had been working out regularly at the Spurs’ practice facility as he considered his decision to retire. The Spurs hoped Ginobili would return for a seventeenth season and allowed him to take his time with his decision.

 

The team thanked Ginobili in a tweet and video Monday.

Ginobili played a historic sixteen-seasons with the Spurs, and was a four-time NBA champion, two time NBA All-Star, Argentina Olympic gold medalist and one of the most decorated international players in history.

On Monday, twenty-five year old Odell Beckham, Jr. became the highest paid wide receiver in the league as he signed a five-year extension with the New York Giants.

The financial figures were not disclosed, but according to reports, Beckham can earn a maximum ninety-five million dollars with sixty-five million guaranteed. Beckham is now under contract through 2023.

After the contract was announced, wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Roger Lewis each posted videos on social media showing Beckham and his teammates dancing.
