Smash Mouth And Smashing Pumpkins Feud Over Shrek Soundtrack

The Smashing Pumpkins lead singer, Billy Corgan, recently said they were asked to contribute music to the original “Shrek” movie before Smash Mouth. In response, Smash Mouth tweeted, quote, “If it feeds Billy’s ego to think they were first, let him think that”.

Most people think of Smash Mouth when they think of the original version of “Shrek”. The movie opens with their song “All Star”, and ends with their cover of “I’m a Believer”.

Although, in an Instagram Q&A when someone asked Corgan if he’d ever seen “Shrek”, he said Smashing Pumpkins was offered the end credit song for the first Shrek movie, but the offer was withdrawn and given to Smash Mouth.

In refute to the comment, Smash Mouth clarified their side and tweeted, quote, “Actually we said no and Michael Austin from DreamWorks kept calling.  That went on for over a month.  We assume multiple bands were asked”.

THE QUEEN OF SOUL, ARETHA FRANKLIN, DIES AT 76

Aretha Franklin performs onstage at The Fox Theatre

Sadly, Aretha Franklin passed away yesterday, and that means the ‘Queen of Soul’ left us on the same date as Elvis Presley, the ‘King of Rock and Roll’.

Aretha Franklin passed on Thursday at her home in Detroit. She was seventy-six and the cause was advanced pancreatic cancer.

Ms. Franklin had a celebrated career. She placed more than one-hundred singles on the Billboard charts, including seventeen top ten pop singles and twenty number one R&B hits. She received eighteen competitive Grammy Awards, along with a lifetime achievement award in 1994. She was also the first woman ever inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rest in peace, Aretha Franklin.

FOX NEWS PAYS TRIBUTE TO ARETHA FRANKLIN WITH AN IMAGE OF PATTI LABELLE

After news surfaced that Aretha Franklin died Thursday at her Detroit home, Fox news posted a tribute. While the video had good intentions honoring life and legacy, it made one big mistake. Somehow, an image of Patti LaBelle ended up in the final version.

While the main image of Franklin is correct, the faded shot in the upper right corner of a woman singing is a photo of Patti LaBelle.

Fox News has since apologized for the mistake, and said the Patti LaBelle image was added with the intent of honoring a past performance with Franklin and LaBelle.
