What began as a way for Austin-based bars to make money during a slow period of the year has become one of Austin’s most notable music festivals. Free Week started over a decade ago, allowing music enthusiasts the opportunity to get together and listen to a range of music at some of the hippest venues in town. Although it started in the Red River Cultural District, Free Week has expanded to venues all over town making it even more accessible for Austinites to come out and enjoy the week. Now synonymous with the Austin music scene, Free Week continues to show us why Austin, TX really is the “Live Music Capital of the World”.
Free Week starts Tuesday, January 1st and runs all the way through Sunday, January 6th.
This year, 101X Homegrown Live is proud to bring you an Official Free Week Showcase featuring UME, Calliope Musicals, Teddy Glass, A. Sinclair, BLXPLTN, Glaze, Fanclub, and Marfa Crush. This is an all ages show that will take place on Sat. Jan 5th at Scoot Inn and of course, it’s FREE!
