Green Day Set to Perform as Part of NFL Honors Virtual Concert for Super Bowl Weekend

Rock band trio Green Day will make an appearance on the 10th annual NFL Honors gig on Saturday, February 6.

The band announced their performance on Twitter saying, “Fired up to finally be back on stage!” The show will broadcast on CBS from 6pm ET from Tampa, preceding Sundays much anticipated Super Bowl LV.

“With the unprecedented nature of this year, we are excited to bring the 10th annual NFL Honors show to a unique format,” stated Mike Quenzel of the NFL stated regarding the show. “We look forward to producing an unforgettable show that will celebrate the game and its brightest start in an entertaining fashion.”

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed that he has “been writing a lot of new music” in recent months. “I’ve been writing a lot. I’m always putting something together, whether it’s a full demo in my small studio or just some voice notes on my phone.” Green Days last full-length album was released in February of 2020 titled, Father Of All Motherfuckers while Armstrong releases a solo covers album called No Fun Mondays. After many months of writing, Green Day are still set to travel to the UK for their Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy in June 2021, which was previously postponed due to coronavirus.
