Gorillaz have welcomed The Cure’s Robert Smith for their Song Machine online series. The two teamed up for a new song and initially released a few details about the upcoming project.

Coming up on Song Machine… It’s @RobertSmith,” wrote Gorillaz on Twitter on September 7.  Their song “Strange Timez” featuring The Cure’s frontman is out now.

Attached to the first tweet was an image of the animated group in space settled on another planet rocking bright-colored spacesuits. The members are seen staring straight ahead as a dim photo of Smith’s face floats behind them with the Earth visibly nearby. Following the promotional photo was a 30 second video teaser of the cartoon band embarking on a thrilling space journey. Watch below.

This is the group’s sixth installment of the Song Machine online series. Gorillaz have collaborated with multiple artists in their latest releases, including London rapper Octavian for the track “Friday 13th,”  and Joy Division and Peter Hook from New Order for Gorillaz’s song “Aries.”
