Austin Disaster Relief Network to Distribute Free Clothing, Food, Supplies

The series of winter storms left millions of Texans in a crisis. With power outages, home damages, inaccessibility to clean water and hot meals, Austinites have united during this troubling time to help those in need.

If you want to assist those impacted by the winter storms or if you need help, check out some of the resources available to you.

AUSTIN DISASTER RELIEF WILL DISTRIBUTE FREE CLOTHING, FOOD & SUPPLIES

  • WHEN:
    • On Friday, March 12, clothing items will be distributed to those affected by the winter storm
    • 9AM-8PM
  • WHERE
    • 905 S. Capital of Texas Hwy – Austin, TX 78746 (everyone MUST register. No walk-ups)
  • REGISTER FOR A PICK-UP TIME
  • Austin Disaster Relief will have items for men and woman + 600 Care Kits filled with food, hygiene supplies, PPE, and hydration kits
  • Families can get 3 sets of clothing per family member
  • Family members MUST BE PRESENT
  • Families will be allowed to pick up clothing for one additional family member not present
  • First-come-first-served basis

UPDATE: BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED

  • On Tuesday, February 23, Austin Water lifted the citywide boil water notice
  • The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality tested the city’s tap water and passed all regulatory standards
  • Tap water is now safe to drink and use for cooking
  • Check out this boil water map to look up specific locations

  • Austin Water is coordinating with community organizations and other city departments to ensure residents have access to water.

NEED TO SHOWER OR DO LAUNDRY?

The Austin Disaster Relief Network is helping those who need to take a shower or wash their laundry. They have a sign-up sheet available on their site, see availability and sign up now.

  • Showers are 30 minute time slots
    • Bring your own towel and toiletries 
  • Laundry slots are 2 hours each
    • Bring your own detergent
    • One slot per family per day
