AJR, Royal Blood, Beabadoobee

Check out January and February’s X-tended playlist.

Beabadoobee | Last Day on Earth

Beabadoobee released the first track from her upcoming EP Our Extended Play. “Last Day On Earth” is the first sneak peek fans are getting from the new record, which was produced and co-written with The 1975’s Matt Healy and George Daniel.

In a press release, the artist said the new song is “about all the things [she] would have done had [she] known we were going into a lockdown and the world was going to change the way it has.” The artist went on to say that she wrote the after the first lockdown. The entire EP was written and recorded with The 1975 band members on a farm in the countryside, a change in scenery for Beabadoobee. “I wanted to experiment on the sounds and sonics even more and the EP to me has a feeling of togetherness to it… how we’re all in this joined as one.”

Accompanying the single is a brand new music video directed by Arnaud Bresson. Watch below.

Royal Blood | Limbo

A new track by Royal Blood made its way to streaming platforms today. The new tune’s titled “Limbo,” and it’s the third track they’ve released from the upcoming sophomore LP Typhoons.

Leading to the release, the rock duo provided some details on what “Limbo” symbolizes along with a snippet of the track. “Limbo is about being sick and tired of being sick and tired. Being bored of my own behaviour and the psychological crisis of being utterly lost and helpless to the violent storms of self destruction and addiction.”

Typhoons is due out April 30.

AJR | OK Orchestra

AJR’s new album OK Orchestra is here. The new LP has 13 new tracks, featuring “Bang” and “Way Less Sad.” Just last month, the brothers joined us for an Instagram Live to talk all about OK Orchestra, touring, and they even clarified what the dumbest instrument in the world is. Be sure to watch the full interview and stream the album below.

Lana Del Rey | Chemtrails Over The Country Club

Lana Del Rey’s new album Chemtrails Over The Country Club is officially out. This is the singer’s seventh studio record, following her 2019 LP Norman Fucking Rockwell!

Del Rey’s new album was intended to be released last year. However, the artist held off on the release date due to the pandemic. Accompanying her latest material is a brand new music video for the track “White Dress.” The singer-songwriter actually injured herself while filming the video back in December 2020. She shared a photo of herself in a cast and wrote, “I wiped out on my beautiful skates before the video even began after a long day of figure eights and jumps in the twilight of the dezert.”

Imagine Dragons | “Follow You” & “Cutthroat”

Imagine Dragons unveiled two new tracks from their forthcoming record. The new material follows the group’s 2018 album Origins.

The Las Vegas pop rock band’s new material took time to create. “I’ve been working on this album with the guys for the last three years,” said frontman Dan Reynolds in a statement discussing the new releases. Reynold’s shared a Notes screenshot from his phone presenting meanings behind the band’s two new singles “Follow You” and “Cutthroat.”

There’s a juxtaposition between both songs. The frontman opened up about his personal relationship with his wife to describe “Follow You” as a story about “loyalty and love.” There’s flaws that come with loving someone, wrote Reynolds, and “it isn’t always romantic or pretty.” The artist noted that he and his wife Aja separated a few years back for seven months, “Follow You” was written after they got back together. “I wanted it to represent a love that is realistic.”

“Cutthroat,” however, represents the complete opposite. “It’s an exorcism of self pity,” he noted. “Loves my past. My present. Loves my mistakes and problems. My weakness. My illness.”

SHAED | Part Time Psycho

SHAED return with a brand new track from their forthcoming album High Dive, due out May 14. The single’s called “Part Time Psycho” and it features singer-songwriter Two Feet.

SHAED said the collaborative song was influenced “by the insane emotional rollercoaster [they] rode over the past year.” Opening up about anxiety, pressure, happiness, and reassurance, the DC group admitted to these feelings and knew they weren’t the only ones in this emotional state. The band teamed up with Teen Line to encourage you people to speak about their problems when needed. “As the world around us begins to heal, we want to increase transparency about the road we walked together.”

High Dive will be the trio’s first full-length album. Watch the music video for “Part Time Psycho” below.

Kings of Leon | When You See Yourself

It’s officially here! Kings of Leon released their new album When You See Yourself.

It’s been five years since the group released their last album WALLS, and now they’re back with 11 new tracks. The band previously released three tunes from their latest record, “Echoing,” “100,000 People,” and “The Bandit.” Kings of Leon are actually the first band ever to release their album in NFT form, which stands for non-fungible token. NFT is a cryptocurrency token; the Nashville band is gaining this digital currency through their art, videos, music, and concert tickets. Doing so, they have offered three different NFT packages fans can pick from, ranging in a scale of prices of course.

The first option includes exclusive artwork, a limited edition vinyl copy, and digital downloads of the new tracks. The band also released six tokens that feature special art that will only be made and sold once. Their highest NFT package includes mind blowing items, for a large price. If fans purchase these “golden ticket” tokens, they’ll have access to four front-row seats to any of the band’s shows for life, a concierge to drive them to and back the chosen show, lounge and band access, plus four bags filled with merch sold at the concert.

Want to skip out on the luxurious items? Just stream the full album below.

The upcoming record is titled The Bitter Truth, and it will feature 12 tracks.

The Wiggles | Cover of Tame Impala’s “Elephant”

And just for giggles, we’re adding this rad cover by The Wiggles. The Australian children’s music group performed their version of Tame Impala’s “Elephant” on Triple J’s cover series Like A Version. To be quite candid, they did not disappoint.

For any kiddos who discover this friendly version of the 2012 track, bandmember Anthony Fields thought it’d be a bit more entertaining to rock an elephant costume throughout the live performance. And to make the cover even friendlier, they incorporated their iconic track “Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy!” into the mix!

Watch their take on the 2012 bop below.
