The Hays County Local Health Department was notified on Thursday of two additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total in Hays County to 13.  All 13 positive cases are adults.  In addition, the Hays County Local Health Department has received 131 negative test results, and 21 test results are pending.

One of the original positive cases, a resident of Kyle, has recovered and is out of quarantine.

The breakdown of cases by city is as follows:

  • Austin (some Hays County addresses are Austin) – 1
  • Buda – 3
  • Dripping Springs – 3
  • Kyle -4
  • San Marcos – 2

Meanwhile, a mandatory curfew remains in effect for the entire county until April 10.  During that time, only essential workers are allowed to travel from their homes, but Sheriff Gary Cutler says this will not give his deputies carte blanche to pull drivers over at random.

“When sheriff’s office deputies see a vehicle on the roads of Hays County, they will assume it is because someone is going to work at an essential business, or doing something else permitted by the judge’s order,” Cutler said.

The curfew goes into effect each night from 11:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.
