(10/18/20) Monty’s Catch of the Day – Oneohtrix Point Never

Oneohtrix Point Never - "Long Road Home"

Today’s catch comes from the Brooklyn based electronic musician and film composer Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never. The last time we heard from Lopatin or OPN was when he composed the score for the Safdie Brothers 2019 film Uncut Gems, staring Adam Sandler. He now has put the final touches of his new upcoming album called Magic Oneohtrix Point Never, which is due out on October 30. Today’s catch is called “Long Road Home“, a very cool and very bizarre chilled out tune. Caroline Polachek from the indie band Chairlift also contributes on vocals. Now you have to see the somewhat disturbing video for this track, which involves two demon-like beings loving on each other. OPN is no stranger to graphic, grotesque, and extremely strange videos. This is what the directors Charlie Fox and Emily Schubert say about their latest:

It’s a romantic fable about love and transformation, which grew out of a lot of wild philosophical conversations with Dan over the summer. We wanted to take these supposedly grotesque or demonic creatures and turn them into the weirdly adorable and heartbreaking protagonists of this courtship ritual.

Check it out in the YouTube player below if you dare and remember it’s NSFW. Today’s catch is “Long Road Home” by Oneohtrix Point Never, and it’s a keeper. Good things!
