Posted 3/8/2013 1:46:00 PM

Even though a bazillion trillion bands invade our home from all over the world every March, some of the best are from right here in the ATX. We call them Homegrown Heroes.

  Deidre’s Picks:

The Black and White Years

Maggie Mae’s - Wednesday, March 13, 1am
101X SXSW live broadcast interview: Buffalo Billiards Saturday, March 16, 4:45pm

The Black and White Years are back with a new record (slated for release late summer) and a new band member. “Just Like Old Times” features Adrianne Butler, wife of singer songwriter Scott Butler.

18th Floor at Hilton Garden Inn - Wednesday, March 13, 9pm

They’ve been charming the pants off of audiences with their high energy performances and tight harmonies since 2009. Look for a new record later this year, produced by Danny Reisch (Shearwater, Bright Light Social Hour).

What Made Milwaukee Famous

Javelina - Friday, March 15, 1am

It’s taken five years but their 3rd full length album, “You Can’t Fall Off The Floor”, released in January, was worth it.

Hundred Visions

Headhunters Patio - Friday, March 15, 7pm

A little glam rock, a lot of garage rock, hear their latest release “Permanent Basement” at their bandcamp page.

The Preservation

Saxon Pub - Friday, March 15, 11pm

For fans of Dr. Dog, She & Him and the like, their new EP will drop April 13 at our 101X Homegrown Live.

Bonus FREE show! Catch The Black and White Years, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Marmalakes and The Preservation and many more awesome local bands at the Good Danny’s Good Friends Day Party Saturday March 16 at the Parish.

  Trevin’s picks:

The Black Angels

101X live broadcast interview: Buffalo Billiards -  Wednesday 5:30pm

The new album “Indigo Meadow” comes out April 2nd.

This latest project from former Lion’s frontman has been featured in TV shows Sons of Anarchy and NBC’s Chuck.

East Cameron Folkcore

Bungalow - Friday, March 15, 12:30am

There’s like 100 people in this band so you know it’s a party.
