Tuesday's New Releases - May 15th

Posted 5/15/2012 12:31:00 PM

We pick out the week's best new music, so you don't have to.

Beach House - Bloom

People that like Beach House, really like Beach House, and it's easy to see why. It's lush, atmospheric, and kind of mushy -- the perfect combination for the hopeless romantic in your life. The single "Myth" (which would be right at home on the "Drive" soundtrack) is streaming on the band's website.

Best Coast - The Only Place

Surf-pop with a feminine touch, Best Coast bottled up the California sun and pressed it onto a CD in 2010's Crazy for You. In The Only Place, lead singer and songwriter Bethany Cosentino sticks with familiar territory -- the first single "The Only Place" is a loving paean to surf, sun, and babes.

mewithoutYou - Ten Stories

Philadelphia's mewithoutYou surprised fans with their last release, 2009's It's All Crazy! It's All False! ...

Tenacious D Perform "Roadie" on Letterman

Rize of the Fenix is finally here, and JB and KG aren't wasting any time in hitting the press circuit. The duo stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman last night, to perform "Roadie," their homage to the hardworking men in black that make the live shows possible. Check out the performance below, and the official video can be found here.

Stream The Temper Trap's New Album

Since cementing their place on our airwaves with their catchy hit "Sweet Disposition," The Temper Trap hunkered down for awhile, waiting three years before releasing a new album. Well, the wait is over, as their sophomore disc, The Temper Trap is set to be released June 5th on Glassnote. If you simply can't wait any longer, well you're in luck - Rolling Stone has the album streaming in full on their site.

The mag offers some high praise for the album, noting: "Kicking off with the first single "Need Your Love," The Temper Trap set the tone for the record with bombastic synths, barreling drums and piercing guitars."

If you like what you hear (and honestly, how couldn't you?) you can catch The Temper Trap when they headline our 17th Birthday Concert Series June 11th at Stubb's.
