Red Hot Chili Peppers To Write New Material

After two years of constant touring and promoting, it appears the Red Hot Chili Peppers are making plans to begin writing their next album this fall. This release would be their 11th studio album and their 2nd featuring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Drummer Chad Smith revealed the band's plan to Billboard claiming "We're probably looking at getting together in September and getting on a roll and starting to write songs for the next record."

This news may come as a suprise to many considering the time gap between Stadium Arcadium and I'm With You, however this gap can be attributed to the depature of long-time guitarist John Frusciante as well as the marriage (and divorce) of frontman Anthony Kiedis. Although it is anyone's guess as to how long the song writing process will last, Smith's comments shows promise for a continuing focused Chili Pepper assualt.

While fans may still have a while to wait before another full-length, this news puts away any concern of the Chili Pepper's slowing down. The band still has 6 unreleased tracks due out next month as part of their I'm With You Sessions. It is also unclear how bassist Flea's tour schedule with supergroup Atoms for Peace (including performances at both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival) will play into the songwriting process, but come July 23rd fans of RHCP will have 6 new songs to tide them over until their upcoming release is written, produced, and distributed. We'll do our best to keep you informed on the status of this upcoming release.
