Sometimes the amount of live music in this town can be overwhelming, so we here at 101X are stepping in to guide you toward some of the best acts hitting the stage this weekend.
Black Pistol Fire
Friday May 4, Stubb's Inside 10:30p
Black Pistol Fire is the latest entrant into the grungey garage-rock scene dominated by The Black Keys and Shearwater, but this Austin/Ontario based duo make a whole lot of noise with a lot fewer instruments.

Death Cab For Cutie
Friday May 4, ACL Live at Moody Theater 6:30p
The soundtrack of a thousand failed romances, Death Cab for Cutie are indie legends. From Something About Airplanes in 1998 to last year's Codes and Keys, Death Cab's music has always been interesting, melodic, and profound -- without being preachy or inaccessible.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers w/ Regina Spektor
Saturday May 5, Frank Erwin Center 7:30p
There's an impressive and eclectic double bill at the Frank Erwin Center this weekend. First up is Regina Spektor, the angelicly voiced and charmingly quirky piano songstress, who could draw a pretty sizeable crowd in her own right. She's followed by American rock hero, and the architect behind classic tracks like "Breakdown," "American Girl," "Don't Come Around Here No More," and "Running Down a Dream," Tom Petty.
