Sometimes the amount of live music in this town can be overwhelming, so we here at 101X are stepping in to guide you toward some of the best acts hitting the stage this weekend.

Blue October
Saturday April 28, Stubb's 7:00p
101X brings Houston rockers Blue October to Stubb's this weekend. The atmospheric alt-rockers' last album Any Man in America hit number one on the Billboard rock charts.

The Fray
Sunday April 29, Stubb's 6:30p
Composers of tv-ready piano ballads like "How to Save a Life" and "Over My Head (Cable Car)," The Fray know how to put together a catchy song. Their anthemic hits are perfect for Stubb's outdoor amphitheater.

Jeff Mangum
Sunday April 29, ACL Live at Moody Theater 6:30p
The architect of one the most highly-regarded albums of the past 20 years, Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Jeff Mangum has been a bit of recluse. Since disbanding Neutral Milk Hotel in 1998, he has made only the occasional public appearance, much to the frustration of fans. He's gradually been returning to the public eye, and this is his first real tour in over a decade. Go support him, lest he disappear again.

Deer Tick
Sunday April 29, Antone's 9:00
There are lots of bands out there standing at the crossroads of indie, rock, and country, and Deer Tick is one of the best. The band is capable of producing Seger-esque anthems and melodic, introspective ballads that sound like the works of a rural Randy Newman, and pretty much everything in between.

Say Anything
Sunday April 29, La Zona Rosa 8:00
Ostensibly a pop-punk band, Say Anything's creativity, wit and self-awareness have allowed the band to transcend genre conventions. In a sea of disenfranchised suburbanites with guitars, Say Anything stand above the rest by adding weight to their angst with humor and brutal honesty.
