IS THIS NORMAL?:
Nick's so excited that his hair has been growing out, thanks to the doctors of Restora Austin, that he refuses to cut it. But maybe he should style it. It just naturally does this. He'll probably go do something with it before the rest of the building gets here, but till then, who's he trying to impress? Why not let it just do whatever it wants? Until it grows out, when he'll pull it up into a topknot. Maybe it's all sticking straight out in an effort to escape him. Check out his hair progression here.
ALEX IN AN OLD FOLKS’ HOME:
Times are tough for our producer, Alex Son of a Preacher Man. His rent just went up $70, and he doesn’t know where to move. He found an awesome listing, but it’s for a senior living facility. Wait, isn’t it discrimination if they won’t let him live there? That would be a perfect place for him! He lives a quiet life, likes old comic books, and he loves Bingo. If you want to give Alex a cheap place to live, e-mail email@example.com.
AUSTIN MUSIC AWARDS:
Right now the Austin Chronicle is doing its annual poll where you can vote for all your favorite facets of the Austin music scene, including the most important categories: Radio Show and Deejay. We’d love for you to vote for us. If you use this link to vote for someone else, though, we might kill you in your sleep.
Tuesdays we take a peek into Deb’s Diary to see what it’s like to be a hot, British chick living in Austin. This week she met with a new financial advisor, but it was in a coffee shop, so it looked mostly like a pathetic date. He does it by day and then helps his friends out with it by night. And he did a good job of dumbing it down to her, comparing her various accounts to buckets she needs to fill. Sounds totally legit. To be clear: Deb doesn’t have much money. But he’s gonna help her manage what little she has. See how her bankroll progresses here.
We're all about supporting animal charities and bringing you the happiness of animals in your own home. So you should check out our friends at Love-A-Bull, who are currently looking for a home for Alfred. He's very well-trained and gets along well with others. Plus, as you can tell, he's quite the comedian. Give Alfred and the other adopt-a-bulls a look here.
I LOVE YOU CALL:
At 8:50 Deb calls a random business and tries to get the person answering the phone to say, “I love you.” Today she called Golden Krust Bakery in Paterson, NJ. Always spell things with a K when you kan, kids. They’ve got lots of chicken and kurry dishes, which means it looks like it’s Jamaikan food. Deb got some love from the Karibbeans! Kool!
DOES DEB KNOW STUFF (ABOUT FOOTBALL):
Every day we “trivialize” Deb by asking questions about the game of football, then laughing when she doesn’t know the answers. Today she had to identify the decade when teams last won the Super Bowl. She actually did know that the Patriots last won in the 2000s, despite her assertions that they’ve won all of the last four years. Apparently it’s currently 2010.
Our new favorite Mexican Winter Olympian (okay, he’s this year’s only Mexican Winter Olympian) is actually a German prince who makes pop music when he’s not slalom skiing and taking pictures. Enjoy.
Who knew that UT would be good at basketball again? The ‘Horns are in the Top 25. Sure, we’re 25, but let us take what we can get.
