QRANK CREATOR IN STUDIO:
Today we had Rodney, the creator of Qrank from Richochet Labs, in the studio. Deb is obsessed with Qrank, so she was excited to talk with him. Deb loves Qrank because it’s educational and it causes people to want to learn. Jason thinks he’s a smart guy, so he doesn’t understand why he can’t do well on Qrank. Andy Langer is also a Qrank player, and he recently taught Deb how to use power ups. A listener called in to ask how to play against his friends on Facebook if he plays on the iPhone. Rodney said that he can link up to Facebook through his iPhone, and then his friends will be able to play with him. Rodney also told us that Ricochet Labs is working to make Qrank available for Android. There will be live Qrank events every Monday in August from 6 to 8pm at Home Slice Pizza and every Thursday from 6-8pm at the Highball. The Texas Tribune will also be hosting a political version of the game at Jo’s on August 4th from 7 to 9pm. For more information about Qrank, click here.
DENNIS DE LA PENA:
Every Friday, we invite Dennis de la Pena, a real live sports broadcaster from Fox 7 Sports, to the show to talk about sports. Andy Langer asked Dennis why he didn’t come out to the Jason and Deb Non-Celebrity Softball Game. Dennis wanted to go, but he was out of town so he couldn’t. Jason heard speculation that Tony Romo could become the MVP of the league this year. This is the first year Jason isn’t pessimistic about the Cowboys. Dennis thinks it’s a little early to be too optimistic about the season. Tune in to Fox 7 Sports for Dennis!
WHOSE TWEET IS IT ANYWAY?
Every so often, we play ‘Whose Tweet Is It Anyway’- a game where SI reads a tweet by one of three chosen celebrities, and Jason, Deb and a caller pick which celeb they think it came from. Today’s three celebs were Ozzy Guillén, Reggie Bush, and Ochocinco. The 1st tweet was about working out so hard you feel like you beat cancer. Listener Bryan was the only one who got it right. The next tweet was completely in Spanish. Everyone guessed Ozzy Guillen, and they all got it right. Jason was the only one to guess the 3rd tweet, and Jason and Deb both guessed the 4th tweet correctly. Jason won the game, but Deb and Bryan were tied so we played a tiebreaker. Bryan won tickets and a chance to qualify for the Bud Light Port Paradise Cruise.
YOU GOT BUTTSLAMMED:
We decided to play a game today called You Got Butt-Slammed. It’s, of course, named after the fantastic Family Guy clip that makes fun of terrible radio (present company included). Basically four people call in on the four phone lines we have, and they each have a chance to “butt-slam” a phone line number, who will then have their line hung up – even if it’s their own line! Brett chose line 4 and butt-slammed Rick. Damon chose line 2 and butt-slammed himself. Sam chose line 3 and butt-slammed himself as well. Brett played the game well and won a chance to qualify for the Bud Light Port Paradise Cruise.
DEB’S WEEKEND GETAWAY:
Deb is going out of town on a couples-only weekend getaway without her boyfriend this weekend. She’s going to a private suite in Fredericksburg with a friend. This is the first time Deb’s had a mature, somewhat romantic weekend with a friend. Usually when Deb goes on a trip with her girl friends, they just go on party trips. Cassandra said she’s gone on mature trips with her girl friends to Lake Tahoe. Deb told her that party trips with her sorority sisters don’t count. Deb’s looking forward to going to Fredericksburg for the weekend, and she might even bring back some Fredericksburg peaches.
I LOVE YOU CALL:
Every day, we call a random business and Deb tries to get whoever answers to tell her they love her. Today, we called Bill’s Carpet Care, and Sue answered. Deb told her that she loved the company so much she wanted to get a tattoo of their name. Deb said she threw a party at her parent’s house, but Bill’s Carpet Care cleaned it up so well that her parents couldn’t tell. Sue thought she knew who’s house it was, and she was appreciative of the compliment. Unfortunately, Deb didn’t receive any love today, and she was 0 for 5 this week. Ouch!
C OF THE WEEK:
Every week, Deb chooses someone who has done her wrong during the week, and she declares them as the C of the Week. This week, Deb decided to choose Oksana Grigorieva. Deb considers herself somewhat of a feminist, and she doesn’t think it’s okay to punch a woman in the face. However, she thinks Oksana has been pushing Mel Gibson’s buttons throughout the whole thing. Oksana also ruined Braveheart for Deb. Deb thinks Mel and Oksana both got what they deserved. Mel’s career is ruined and Oksana got punched in the face. That's why Oksana is this week's C of the Week.
DOES DEB KNOW STUFF:
Each day we quiz Deb over a random topic for a listener’s chance to win tickets. Today, we quizzed Deb over how different celebrities. 1) Found Deb in a Thailand closet with a rope around his neck and genitalia. Deb guessed David Carradine, and she was right. 2) Found dead on the steps of the Viper Room. Deb guessed River Phoenix, and she was correct again. 3) Stung in the heart by a stingray while snorkeling. Deb guessed Steve Erwin, and she was right. Listener Daniel won tickets!

REWIND:
Deb’s survival through the week depends on naps. Yeah, she only works four hours a day, and many people think she’s a big baby for needing a nap, but she also doesn’t sleep well at night. Besides, who doesn’t love a good nap? She started thinking it would be pretty nice to black out the little window in the studio, bring a comfy couch in, and take a little nap when she gets tired here at work. We asked listeners to call in with their napping at work stories. Caller Jacob said he works at General Motors, and business is pretty slow in the morning so sometimes he takes a little siesta to pass the time. Chris called in and told us he used to work nights, and he would journey to the men’s restroom, which was usually vacant, and he would sit backward on the toilet, lean forward, rest on the tank and doze off. Who knew a toilet was so versatile? Maybe Deb will be brave enough to venture to the women’s restroom and sleep on the breast-feeding couch.
