Animal Lovers of Austin, Inc., present Barkitecture, 2012.  On November 10 from 12-4 pm in the spectacular 2ND Street District, Barkitecture will raise funds via silent auction of unique, one of a kind doghouses created by Austin’s best architects, designers, and builders.  Proceeds will benefit local area animal rescue groups. 

Barkitecture is now accepting applications through their website, www.austinbarkitecture.com, from builders, designers, and architects who would like to be part of the event.  In 2011, we had over 20 homes submitted and raised over $20,000. 

Barkitecture is hosting a special preview party at the W Hotel on November 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Guests will be able to enjoy a specialty cocktail, gourmet snacks, and get a sneak peek of a few of the custom designed doghouses as well as meet the designers.  Tickets are $25 each and are available on the website, www.austinbarkitecture.com.

Additionally, Barkitecture is pleased to announce several exciting updates about this year’s event. 

West Lynn Veterinary Clinic, W Hotel & Trace Restaurant, Mud-Puppies, and Protect Painters have recently signed on as additional sponsors to this year’s event. 

The judges for the 2012 event include: Chris Czichos, Rachel Guest, Jim Spencer, Lisa Starr, and Dr. Angie Whitworth.

The animal rescues on site include: Austin Dog Alliance, Austin Greyhound Adoption, Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin, Love-a-Bull, and Wee Rescue.  All rescues will have animals available for adoption at the event.

This dog-centric afternoon will be filled with activities that include a silent auction, a Lofty Dog Howl-o-ween Fashound Show, vendor booths, pet adoptions, and a Designer Pup Stop where attendees are invited to play with their pets.  Barkitecture is pet and family-friendly and free to the public.
