(8/25/13) Monty's Catch of the Day - London Grammar

I think it's time you got introduced to the UK trio known as London Grammar. Now you may have heard us play "Hey Now" by LG, and "Help Me Loose My Mind", which is a Disclosure track that features them. But it's about time to get you more familiar with the electronic outfit and their sound - soulful vocals mixed with dreamy synths & live instruments. This is a great combination for London Grammar especially when you have Hanna Reid behind the mic. Her beautiful voice has been compared to Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, and Sinead o' Connor, which is pretty good company to be in. One thing that I've noticed after listening to her is how the strength & passion coming out of those pipes seem to escape with very little effort. Let's not forget about the multi-talented Dan Rothman and Dot Major, who provide the ambience including live guitar, bass, drums, and piano. It's almost like a futuristic jazz & lounge band. London Grammar will be releasing their first full length album in September called If You Wait, which comes after 18+ months of writing and recording. Unfortunately, today's catch is not going to be on their debut, since it was a special recording done after the album was complete. But, it's an incredible track that cannot be ignored. Today's catch is London Grammar doing a fantastic cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" - a perfect match. You can hear a sample of "Wicked Game" in the audio player above. Good things!
