Monty's Catch of the Day - Empire of the Sun

It was in 2008 when the Australian duo known as Empire of the Sun came to the scene, and they did it in a fantastic and flamboyant way. Not only was their music filled with incredibly catchy tunes, but their whole presence, either in video, live concerts, or photos, is nothing short of theatrical. Their debut album, Walking on a Dream was a worldwide hit, and contained several songs that we play on Chillville. As a matter of fact, both the album and the song "We are the People" were highly ranked on our Best of Chillville list for that year. So it's pretty safe to say that I've been really looking forward to hear new work from the band, and it only took 5 years. This past week EOTS released their highly anticipated sophomore album entitled Ice on the Dune. Their first single off the new LP is called "Alive", which along with the album should meet expectations of all Empire fans.  However, I had to pick my favorite song from the record to be today's "catch". It's called "Old Favours", which is a bass-thumping, energetic and mostly instrumental piece of work. Love it! Do yourself an "Old Favour" (pun intended) and get this album...more importantly get their debut album as well if you've not done so already. You can hear a sample of today's catch "Old Favours" in the audio player above. Good things!
