(5/12/13) Monty's Catch of the Day - The Child of Lov
Posted 5/12/2013 8:25:00 AM

The Child of Lov is a new artist that I just became familiar with earlier this week. I didn't know a single thing about the Dutch-born soul singer whose real name is Cole Williams, but after giving him a listen, I knew this was my "catch" for this week. The name of today's catch of the day is called "One Day", and it features Mr. Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur, The Good, the Bad, and the Queen) on vocals for certain parts of the song. As a matter of fact, it was actually recorded at Albarn's studio in London. The first thing that popped into my head after hearing the track was a combination of Citizen Cope and the trip-hop beats of Massive Attack. There is definitely a fusion of blues, hip-hop, and down-tempo electronic going on with this baby. The Child of Lov just released his self-titled debut album earlier this week, and I think it's definitely worth a purchase. You can listen to "One Day" in the audio player above. Good things!
