(3/31/13) Monty's Catch of the Day - Rick Smith
Posted 3/31/2013 8:25:00 AM

Today's catch comes from Rick Smith, who is hailed as one of the best electronic artists of all time. Are you not familiar with him? Well, if you know the band Underworld, then you know Rick Smith. He is one of the original & current members (along with Karl Hyde) of the critically claimed & highly influential electronic outfit, Underworld. Smith is now teaming up with UK director Danny Boyle, and has scored the soundtrack to his upcoming film, Trance (starring James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson). Smith is actually no stranger to the film business or Danny Boyle. Underworld has been a big part of Danny Boyle's films including original songs for both Trainspotting ("Born Slippy/Nuxx") & The Beach ("8 Ball"), and a complete musical score for Sunshine and the stage production of Frankenstein. Most recently Boyle and Underworld collaborated on the opening & closing ceremonies to the 2012 Summer Olympics. Today's catch is called "Here It Comes" and it features Scottish soul singer Emeli Sandé on vocals. The soundtrack is currently only available in the UK; however, you can listen to a clip of "Here it Comes" in the audio player above. Good things!
