Deb’s Millennial Problem

Deb at NueFit gif

Deb has got an issue, but she is okay with it because it is a “Millennial problem”. She even brought in the millennial of the team, new producer Imari, to test her hypothesis. Her neck has been super sore lately.  At first she thought it was just from hitting the gym hard for MaJourney, getting ready for the MAVS Charity Classic. Jason accused her of simply having old bones and tendons, but thanks to her action fitness lifestyle, Deb’s physical age is that of someone half her age. So, Deb self-diagnosed the problem as millennial neck syndrome, which is something people get from staring at their phones all the time. Even her friend Steve at NueFit has been trying to fix her text-neck, but she does not know how to solve the issue without putting down the phone. Luckily her vacation to Indonesia is just around the corner, and Deb is planning to put away her phone for the entire trip. Hopefully there will be enough sight-seeing opportunities to keep her busy and give her neck some rest.

DEAR DIRECT TV

Jason recently made the switch over to direct TV. You might remember he had some issues when the installation guy drilled a hole in the wall, hit a water line, and flooded his house. Now he is having to deal with more issues with them. Part of the sign up deal was free HBO, but it still hasn’t been showing up. He tried to call customer support and resolve the issue, but he kept getting stuck on hold. After getting transferred seemingly to everyone, Jason switch to their online customer service chat, and they informed him that eventually his HBO will kick in sometime within the first 3 months. This lead to a seven-tweet barrage towards Direct TV, none of which we can repeat here. Today’s lesson was, if you are considering cutting your chord, don’t. Fortunately, his HBO is working now.  He still has a hole in the wall, but other than that his Direct TV experience has been great!

RESTORA AUSTIN DOCTORS

Every month we have Drs. Reid and Gordon from Restora Austin in studio to answer your plastic surgery questions. Today we started off by getting professional advice for Jason’s nose after his softball injury. Unfortunately, the doctors of Restora said to properly fix his nose he should have done something right away. Now, he has to wait for it to fully heal before they can make any adjustments.  Deb even told Jason he should have called Dr. Reid as soon as it happened. Dr. Reid agreed that he could have tapped it a certain way early on so it would not heel so badly. We also learned that you can affect the look of your nose if you keep messing with it during the heeling process. Listener Bianca called in to ask more details about how long it takes to recover from Rhinoplasty surgery. The doctors answered that the bruising lasts, at most, two weeks. They also said that with Rhinoplasty, by six weeks everything looks good, but it takes at least a year, to fully see the results. The bruising from the procedure can also be easily covered, but when Deb had her nose job, she wore her bruises and black eyes like a badge of honor. If you have a question for the doctors you can find more info and details on their website at RestoraAustin.com.

I LOVE YOU CALL

Today we called Jimmy’s Shoe Repair in Cambridge, Massachusetts to see if they could fix Deb up with an I Love You. Deb used the tactic of asking if they did cleanings as well as full on repairs. It seems her favorite pair of Timberlands got splattered with some residual spray after one of her friends threw up some kind of purple drink next to her. Francis, the guy who answered the phone, told her it would be no problem to get them looking brand new.  They even commented on how they liked each other’s accents.  Even better, Francis returned Deb’s love! Clean Tims and an I love you, what more could a British girl living in Austin, Texas want?

ARE YOU SMARTER

Every day we let a listener challenge Jason in a trivia topic of their choice to see if they can outsmart the self-proclaimed smartest person you know. John was today’s contestant and chose the category fictional characters based on real people. Sadly today’s game was a blowout as John didn’t get a single one correct, and Jason was able to secure the victory by knowing that Jack Nicholson’s character in The Departed was based on real life Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger. It didn’t matter that he didn’t know that Citizen Kane was based on real life publishing tycoon William Randolf Herst, or that Butters from South Park was based on one of the shows actual Producers.  Another victory for the Dickman!

GOOGLE GAME (YOU AUTO COMPLETE ME)

Both Jason and Deb scored a quarter point by getting Helen Mirren in the top 5 search results, but Jason was able to get a jump on Deb by getting quarter points for Dave Franco and Chicken Recipes.  Jason is always torn between going recipe vs recipes, so luckily it worked out for him today. Deb came close to getting Green Pastures, but Google screwed her by going Green Pastures Austin.  It was anyone’s game on the last question, and Jason secured the victory with a full point for what do I do if I lost my passport whereas Deb’s answer, iPhone, wasn’t even in the top five. At least she had Jason serenade her with some Green Day deep cuts. Flange on!

DOES DEB KNOW STUFF

Earlier in the show we were talking about what was our most-viewed video on YouTube. Spoiler alert, it’s the video of Puddles The Clown singing to Deb. That sent Producer Nick down a YouTube wormhole of all of our old video from the past, and we decided it would be fun to see if Deb could remember what they were based on just the title of the video.  First up was one called “Deb’s Mancation”, and Deb knew that was her watching soccer on the couch in her underwear, while Jason, also in his underwear for some reason, swept up her house.  She also knew that “Jason Gettin’ Down” was him dancing at a wedding reception wearing track pants. She also knew that “The Great Boob Weigh-In” was the time she and former-producer Cassandra weighed their boobs on a scale to see whose were bigger, and that “Memorial Day-Drunk Fight” was the time that everyone pretended to beat up an extremely intoxicated Jason and pushed him off a party boat into Lake Austin. Good times. You can check out these classic moments in Jason and Deb history here.
