July Homegrown Live: Walker Lukens, Featherface, Purple, Berkshire Hounds

Walker Lukens & The Side Arms

Walker caught everyone's ear last April when he released his album Devoted. Praised by the likes of MTV Hive, Austin American Statesman, Austin Chronicle, Billboard and American Songwriter, his album is chocked full of skillfully crafted indie pop tracks. Earlier this year he released Devoted Remixed and you can stream tracks from both albums on his soundcloud page. He'll be kicking off his summer tour at 11p at our Homegrown Live. (THANKS WALKER!)

Originally from Houston, this Featherface took the plunge and moved to Austin after they released their first full length Actual Magic.  Last SXSW they participated in the Converse Rubber Tracks and churned out this gem of a single “Ourselves Together” named Converse’s “Track of the Week”.  Featherface will give us a happy ending, playing at midnight.

Purple first peaked our interest earlier this year when we found out they were touring with Ringo Deathstarr. Hailing from Beaumont, this three piece features a hot ass drummer chick that sings. Their debut album 409 was recorded here in Austin with Frenchie Smith (Dandy Warhols, Trail of Dead, Toadies) and released in May. Check out our favorite track Wallfower.

Berkshire Hounds

You like Dr. Dog? We like Dr. Dog! So when we heard the single “Shed Skin” we were definitely interested in snagging these guys for a Homegrown Live. Currently in the studio working on their second album, Berkshire Hounds will open up the show at 9p.
