Off To Nicaragua
Jun. 24, 2014
This Thursday I am embarking on a trip to Nicaragua. I've been trying to take this surfing/hiking/swimming/adventure trip for three years but a month before I was scheduled to leave I ate something weird that put me in the hospital for a week. I was adamant that I could still make the trip, but for some reason my Mum was worried that I might get the Dengue Fever and die in a rainforrest and never be heard of again. Over the next few years, things kept getting in the way of this trip, which was still alive and well and now living in somewhat romantic status in my brain. SO this year, I decided, nothing was getting in my way. No boyfriend to talk me out of it, no friends dragging me to other fun locations in the world. Just me. Just my guide book. Just the surfing down the black sands of an active volcano, the swimming in the world's only freshwater lake inhabited by bullsharks, the yoga in the jungle surrounded by the canopy and just the surfing, as well as I can do it anyhow. There are just a few things: is Nicaragua safe? Do I need a mosquito net? Can I drink the water? Are there road signs? Will they understand my broken English accented Spanish? Do they even speak Spanish?
