Media Blackout

Dear Diary

Yesterday I had an accidental technology blackout, which scared me at first, but it ended up being pretty awesome. I got up from my nap around 4:30pm hung out with the dogs for a bit and then went to CrossFit. After my class I went to meet a friend for dinner but as I got in my car I had the shocking realisation that I didn't have my phone with me! What the hell? How would I be able to check my wall on the Facebook? How was I going to quantify how many people loved me by seeing all the missed calls and texts? And most importantly, how was I going to Tweet about my WOD? As I drove to meet my friend, running a little late, I couldn't even call to let them know. But you know what? I felt pretty good about it. Not having my phone with me, took away the compulsion to check it every 5 minutes. So maybe we should all do this every now and then. Have a self imposed media blackout yourself! Go outside and gaze at the limbs of a weeping willow tree, find a little frog in a brook, or pick a blade of grass and reel in its beauty. :)
