Dear Diary

The other week I told you how excited I was about selling my house and buying a new one in an area that would enable me to walk or bike to coffee shops and cafes and such. Well, this week however, I seem to have terribly cold feet about that plan. It wasn’t the thought of having to ‘de clutter’ my house, although at first that was really daunting. I’ve actually already started packing stuff away and I like the way my house looks and feels now! Also, I had to fix a few little things at the house that my dog may have eaten, but isn’t what’s stopping me. After a slow start where I had a dude over to give me a quote but then he never showed up to do the work, I found a more reliable person, whom I’ve had to tell to hold off on the project as I’m just not sure about the whole thing. Here’s my main problem: I love my house. I love the size of it, I love how it looks and feels and I love my back yard. I love laying on the hammock under my jasmine covered gazebo. Sure my house has a bus stop outside and a pack of deaf hobos living under the bridge a block away, but it’s MY house and I LOVE it! Also, and this is probably where you’ll call me a coward, but I’m scared of buying something more expensive. My current mortgage is very affordable and if I refinance, it will be even more so. I watched something on TV yesterday that was talking about sub prime lending, and although that doesn’t apply to me, I started worrying that I’d get in over my head. Especially because I work in radio, and could get fired any minute. So, fine. Call me a vag. I think I may stay put in the ‘hood…
