Behave Like Human Beings

Dear Diary

Last week I had a pretty traumatic experience: I had to go to the mall. I understand that for many people this isn't a big deal at all, but for me, the mall is terrifying. Especially this time of year. The only reason I was going to the mall in the first place was to be nice. I didn't even want to go,  but my brother wanted me to look for some Ralph Lauren Polo shirts for his kids. They're exorbitant in the UK so I thought I'd try and help him out. I was informed by a friend that I'd find the pest prices at the department stores so off to Dillard's, Macy's and JC Penny's I go. I suppose I knew it was going to be a mess but the fact that every store seems to have a sale makes people act a little crazy. I had not one, but two women try and push in line in front of me. One of them even argued that she had been there all along while I watched her just walk up and push in. There were more kids than I could shake a stick at and at one point I heard this lady say to her kids "can't you just act like human beings?" and it actually made me laugh out loud. It reminded me of when I was a nanny. When I was forced to take the kids to the mall for whatever reason, I would make them walk around with their hands in their pockets. It was genius. I say let's share our Christmas shopping survival tips and get through this together!
