(8/3/14) Monty's Catch of the Day - Lil Silva
First of all, Lil Silva is not a rapper. No, not at all. He is a musician/producer out of the UK who is really starting to make a name for himself in the electronic music scene...more specifically, the electro-soul music scene. Of course I'm referencing the music genre that combines R&B, electronic, and soul (The Weeknd, How to Dress Well, Toro y Moi, Active Child, Morcheeba, etc.). Lil Silva is also known as a somewhat musical genius who started making and recording music at age 9. Now at age 24, he brings us today's catch of the day with the song "Don't You Love", which features the vocal assistance of the lovely Banks. Apparently, they have a close musical relationship together since Silva is one of the main producers and behind-the-scene force for Banks' upcoming album, Goddess. "Don't You Love" sounds a bit experimental with the trippy electronics at the start, but the heavy influence of electro-soul takes over as the vocals & song progresses. Lil Silva will be releasing an EP called Mabel next week, and today's catch is the first single from it. It's gonna be a good 2014 for my man with the release of his own EP, and his heavily produced album, Goddess by Banks. Check out the outstanding track, "Don't You Love (ft. Banks)" in the Soundcloud player below. Good things!
