(8/31/14) Monty's Catch of the Day - Eminem ft. Sia

Yes, you read it right. Eminem is today's Catch of the Day

Eminem! What? Yes, you read it correctly. Eminem's latest track is a collaboration with Chillville artist Sia called "Guts Over Fear", and it's today's Catch of the Day. The song was exclusively written and recorded by Marshall Mathers (aka Eminem) and Sia Furler for the upcoming Denzel Washington film called The Equalizer. It will be on the soundtrack for the motion picture upon its release. Now I personally was a big fan of the older, more cynical & clever Eminem music like "The Real Slim Shady", "Without Me", "Superman", "My Name Is", and "A$$ Like That". It seems that most of his music now days is just so angry. Not to say that it's bad, but it's an obvious change from the former. However, I really love this new track because of its intensity and lyrics. Just when you think the song is just going to explode, Sia chimes in during the hook with her beautiful voice and brings a calming element to the whole vibe. He has done this type of collaboration in the past with artists like Skylar Grey, Rhianna, and P!nk, but I think Sia's presence really takes command of the song, which hasn't been done since Dido's work in "Stan". It's  a big year for both Eminem and Sia, with his performance at this year's ACL Fest and her great success with "Chandelier" on her '1000 Forms of Fear' album. As for the film The Equalizer staring Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz, it's set to hit theaters on September 26. Check out the video for Eminem's "Guts Over Fear (ft. Sia)" below. Good things!
