Radiohead Set the Record Straight: "No Lawsuit Has Been Issued" Against Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey broke the news over the weekend that Radiohead were suing her over her new song "Get Free" (which bears glaring similarities to their 1992 hit single "Creep"), sparking much internet debate this week and leaving both her fans and Radiohead's fans with many questions.
Today Radiohead's publishing team Warner/Chappell has responded to Lana's claims in a press release shared by Stereogum, stating that while they have been in discussion with her team, her claims weren't exactly true:
"As Radiohead’s music publisher, it’s true that we’ve been in discussions since August of last year with Lana Del Rey’s representatives. It’s clear that the verses of “Get Free” use musical elements found in the verses of “Creep” and we’ve requested that this be acknowledged in favour of all writers of “Creep.” To set the record straight, no lawsuit has been issued and Radiohead have not said they “will only accept 100%” of the publishing of “Get Free.”"
And the Reydiohead-gate continues...
