Global Citizen Mandela 100 Lineup Announced

The next Global Citizen Festival to end extreme poverty by 2030 lineup has been announced.  The show, dubbed Mandela 100 after Nelson Mandela’s centennial year, will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on December 2nd. Chris Martin, Pharrell Williams, Eddie Vedder and more will head to South Africa for the festival, as well as keynote speaker Oprah Winfrey. Naomi Campbell, Sir Bob Geldof, and Forest Whitaker will host the show, a collaboration between global citizen and The House of Mandela.

According to Billboard, Mandela 100 aims to raise $1 billion for initiatives working to end hunger, increase access to good nutrition for adolescent girls, reduce HIV/AIDS transmission rates, advocate for quality education, provide funding for women’s health, ensure access to clean water and safe sanitation worldwide and more.

At least 50% of that sum will go towards efforts to improve the lives of women and girls around the world.
