FUN FACTS: Back to the Future

We'll be showing Back to the Future for FREE at Summer Cinema this Wednesday. So here are some intersting tidbits from the movie to get you in the mood...

BACK TO THE FUTURE FUN FACTS

Huey Lewis and the News made “Power of Love” for the film. Incidentally, this is the song that Jason and Deb play whenever Deb succeeds on the I Love You call.

The guy with the megaphone in this scene? THAT'S Huey Lewis.

Bumper sticker on Doc Brown's car: One nuclear bomb can ruin your whole day.

It's true.

Fox is 5’4”. Christopher Lloyd is 6’1”. When they who their scenes together, Lloyd had to hunch so it wouldn’t make the height difference more obvious. Or they would move them around or shoot at the right angles.

"Great Scott! I can barely see you all the way down there!"

Fox had to film the TV show Family Ties at the same time that he filmed Back to the Future. That meant he left the TV set, immediately went to the movie set, then reportedly slept for about 5 hours a night.

Also in Family Ties: Courteney Cox!

Thomas F. Wilson (a.k.a. Biff) improvised “make like a tree and get out of here.”

Fox is 3 years older than his “dad,” Crispin Glover and only ten days younger than his “mom” Lea Thompson.

"Our son is how old now?"

The Twin Pines Mall is a real mall. Puentes Hills Mall in City of Industry, California.

Have you seen Gremlins? Does the set look a bit…familiar? That’s because the same set was used to film Kingston Falls in Gremlins (1984) and Back to the Future (1985).

Recognize this little dude from Back to the Future II? It’s Elijah Wood.

"I will take it! I will take the hoverboard to Mordor."

Fox had to do several spittakes when Marty saw his mom lighting up a cigarette. He was supposed to be using water, but they replace it with real alcohol at one point to mess with him. (2:15)

We have one more year until Back to the Future II takes place. To be more accurate, we have until October 21, 2015 for Doc and Marty to show up. AND FOR OUR HOVERBOARDS TO BE INVENTED.

See you there!
