Drunk 28-Year Old Swims Across Hoover Dam and Doesn't Die
28-year-old Arron Hughes from North Wales was visiting Las Vegas for a bachelor party when he made a decision "fueled by drink" (shocker) and jumped into the Colorado River last month, BBC Reports.
"We got there and it was absolutely roasting. I thought to myself 'I'm going in for a dip'," Hughes stated. And dip he did. Hughes dove into the Hoover Dam, swam past turbines that very luckily happened to be off that day, and successfully made it across with the cheering support of his friends, turning him into the first known person to ever survive the treacherous swim.
Unsurprisingly, Hughes was immediately accosted by police after he made it safely to the other side and was arrested on the scene and fined a grand total of $330.
"I don't have any regrets. I even have a tattoo saying 'no regrets', that's the type of person I am." Classic.
Moral of the story: maybe don't jump into the Hoover Dam. But if you're going to do it, do it drunk.
