Have you been following the hilarious and wonderful book tour of Dave Grohl and his mom, Virginia Grohl? In case you missed it, Dave's mom wrote a book called From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars and it's already a best seller. Virginia Grohl wrote about Dave's childhood (of course) but she also talked to the mothers of other famous rock stars like Gary Clark, Jr., Amy Winehouse, Dr. Dre, Adam Levine, and more.
Dave and Virginia stopped by Strand Book Store in New York City and lucky for us, all 56 minutes were recorded. The two talked about the usual mother-son stuff: singing together, dinner table convos, and Dave's acid dealer. Fast forward to the 12:50 mark to hear Dave confess that his "brilliant," "genius" childhood friend Mike was actually his acid dealer. Virginia just laughed.
The two also talked about Austinite Gary Clark, Jr. Dave gushed, "He's so awesome, man. He's so cool." Virginia said he talked to Gary's mom about how he picked up the guitar when he was 12-years-old and just played it. "It was all over with at that point... It was just destiny."
Watch the video below and then go hug your mom and maybe get her this book along with a bouquet of flower for Mother's Day.
