ACL Spotlight: Deap Vally

We came, we saw, we conquered Weekend One, and our sights are now set on Weekend Two which kicks off at Zilker park this Friday. All week long we’ll be bringing you our picks for bands not to miss during the final weekend of ACL, and today’s spotlight is on Deap Vally.

A bluesy, garage-y, rock duo from Los Angeles, Deap Vally’s Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards first met in a crochet class where they swapped CD’s and eventually started jamming together. The girls took their new project to the dive bars of LA and quickly gained a following with their killer style, fuzzed-out rock-and-roll sound, and explosive live performances. Together Troy and Edwards have released two full-length LPs, the most recent of which (2016’s Femejism) was produced by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and earned the group some much deserved international attention and a pretty sweet gig opening up a string of European dates for fellow ACL 2017 artists, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

View their recent music video for "Turn it Off" starring Mischa Barton and John Stavas down below, and don't miss your last chance to catch them in Austin this weekend when they open up the American Express stage Sunday at 12:15 pm.
