101X Artist Highlight Ft. Barns Courtney

Barns Courtney on stage

Barns Courtney has come a long way since his days of working at a computer store in the UK. After being dropped from his record label, the British singer/songwriter was determined to make his dreams of being a successful musician a reality. These dreams came to fruition in 2015 when his single “Glitter & Gold” was recognized by BBC Radio 1, making him somewhat of a household name within the UK. That same year, Courtney’s song “Fire” was chosen to be featured on the soundtrack to the movie Burnt (starring Bradley Cooper), earning him recognition in the U.S.

After that, there was no slowing Barns Courtney down. In 2017, the musician released his EP The Dull Drums, which featured both hit-songs “Fire” and “Glitter & Gold.” Later that same year, Courtney released his debut album titled The Attractions of Youth via Virgin Records. This past year, the single “99” was released and it solidified what we already knew: the 28-year old musician can do no wrong. The single is currently ranked at #15 on Billboard’s Top 20 Alternative Songs chart—watch the music video below.

Barns Courtney will be opening for The Kooks on their 2019 U.S. tour that is set to kick off February 11th in California. The tour will make a stop in Austin on February 15th at Stubbs—get tickets here!
