Last night I went to the wonderful Alamo Drafthouse to see a movie. My BF and I have been excited to see this movie - 2012 - for ages. It's your typical end-of-the-world drama, featuring heart wrenching scenes of death and destruction, with a little dash of humour and humanity thrown in for good measure. Apparently, the Maya predicted that the sun would blow up the world and life as we know it will end. John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, and an awesome cameo by Woody Harrelson made the film pretty awesome, but I had a small problem with it. Dear Diary,

You may remember a little while ago I mentioned that a cousin of mine recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan. His name is Jack, he is my second cousin, and he stepped on a land mine. He lost an arm and both of his legs. He's been in hospital for the last two months with his mum, my first cousin Helen at his side ever since. I've been keeping up with his progress through my mum and other cousins, and by all accounts Jack is in pretty good spirits, but my family are just all pretty much in shock. I'm going home at Christmas, and I'm going to try and see as many members of my family as as I can, but I'm not sure if I'll get to see Jack. There is something that's been driving me mad recently. I thought it was just me, maybe because I've not been well and my ears have been all blocked up, but I've had witnesses so I know I'm not being too sensitive. It's not like it's a new phenomenon or anything, but maybe it's going through a resurgence? I'm talking about Loud Talkers. Loud Talkers are people who for some reason or another do not operate on the same volume level as others in society. Loud Talkers will broadcast the most personal details as well as the most mundane everyday thoughts, so loud that even the dead can hear them. Yesterday, Cassandra and I made our way back from the Bud Light Party Cruise. It was a long day as we had an early start and a late departure, and some delayed flights from the weather in Houston kept us at the airport all day. We were a tad tired and as Cass had been throwing up all night, a little tender as well. However the worst thing about spending the day in the airport was the fact that Cassandra and I also spent the day in the doghouse. It's birthday time!! Not mine of course as you know I turned 45 last month, no, it's my boyfriend's turn this weekend. Actually, on a small side note, it's birthday season all around. 2 friends in Sept, then me, then my Mum's was last week, now it's my man's, then it's my little brother's the week after my man's. Someone Maid A Mess

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been really busy. Really busy and tired. Really busy, tired and lazy I suppose. Anyway the combination of these things led to a really disgusting, dirty house. Actually, it probably wasn't that bad compared to normal people's standards but my house is usually very clean. And the fact that I have two cats and a dog leads to tons of damn pet hair everywhere. Also my honey was coming to town for ACL and I wanted the house to be lovely and clean for him. Today I need a little advice from the listeners. I'm sure the guys out there can help, but maybe there are women who know about this stuff too. And with all this rain today, it's a very pertinent subject. Ok, here it is: what's the deal with Rain-X? Last weekend I went up to Dallas. It was the weekend of the massive deluge that shut down I35 in Salado. I got caught in it for 5 hours and had a really harrowing journey. Last night I found myself in a bit of a sticky or should I say, stinky, situation. But this story needs a little set up - it goes all the way back to when my boyfriend packed up his knives and chef hats and headed up to Fort Worth to work for a while. Remember last week when I told you I was trying hard to motivate my boyfriend to clean my house? Well yesterday he sent me the funniest slash most annoying text picture ever and I think he's just making fun of me now. You see, now that he's up in Fort Worth for God knows how long, he's staying in this apartment instead of a hotel.
