Florence And The Machine is London-born Florence Welch and whomever she's surrounding herself with at the time.   Her debut album,  Lungs, is up for the Mercury Music Prize in the UK.   We've visited the latest UK single "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" on a couple of occasions recently, but today stepped back to the long-ago featured first single, "Kiss With A Fist", as it's the song that US audiences are being introduced to FATM through.   Here's a live take from last Spring's Camden Crawl:

'sup?!
I've been MIA for a while, getting whomped by an infection stemming from a teethcleaning that was supposed to be "good for me."   Eight days of hospitalization and some home recuperation later, I thought I'd check in with something worthwhile here.

Today, Muse's The Resistance came out.  Keep an ear out for other tracks from the record on 101X.   And feast your eyes below--awesome BBC footage from the band's hometown sets in Teignmouth, Devon, England just last week!

Enjoy, and I'm looking forward to being back with you on-air soon.

Bloodshy & Avant are a Swedish production and songwriting team, with songwriting credits on the likes of Britney Spears' "Toxic", and production nods on tracks for Madonna and Kylie Minogue, among others.   Like Pharrell Williams, Peter Bjorn & John, and other production whizzes before them, though, they sought another outlet--and named it Miike Snow (not a typo).   Bloodshy and Avant are joined in Miike Snow by Yank singer Andrew Wyatt; their self-titled debut came out this past spring; "Animal" is the one ...

New Order's (allegedly) no more, but its parts continue to work hard.   Peter Hook hates everyone else and has launched his Freebass project, which has music up on myspace here.   Now his former Manc buddies Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris have posted their response--a taster track from their forthcoming new album as Bad Lieutenant.   The record will be self-titled, and out 10/5.   Here's the link to hear "Sink Or Swim", and grab more info.

Radiohead's back with yet another new song, and perhaps even an ep to follow. Download "These Are My Twisted Words" here--and yes, it's free. The song comes from the same set of sessions that produced "Harry Patch (In Memory Of...)", heard a coupla weeks ago on this feature. There's a rumor that an EP containing "Words" will follow as soon as this week--perhaps even today (Monday). Jonny Greenwood says the song's definitely in the setlist for this weekend's performances at Reading and Leeds.

The Brits lost their last two WWI veterans in the last few weeks.   Only a couple of weeks before the oldest one passed at 111 years, Radiohead took a moment to create a song in his honor.   "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)" was released today through the band's website, and features Thom Yorke singing some excerpts from an interview Patch did four years ago, and a lovely string arrangement courtesy of Jonny Greenwood.   Note the lyrics at the above link, and the opportunity to buy the song for one quid ...

One Eskim0 are a London four-piece who are all about the multimedia delivery, a la Gorillaz.   The giraffe/monkey/penguin/Eskimo combo are the brainchild of singer Kristian Leontiou.   Word is that someone in the Radiohead camp paid close and early attention to One Eskim0, and is involved in managing the band.   You may have gotten to see a bit of 'em as they opened for Tori Amos at the Long Center last weekend.   Debut All Balloons came out in the UK on 6/22; it ...
