We're fans The Wolf and know as soon as you hear them, you will be too. With elements of garage, surf and psych, these guys were an excellent addition to April's Austin Psych Fest lineup. In February they released their second LP "Strange Flowers". Stream below.

Tele Novella

Tele Novella is a feel good garage rock band consisting of members from Belaire and Agent Ribbons. The four-piece band includes Natalie Ribbons, Jason Chronis, Cari Palazzolo, and Matt Simon. Natalie Ribbons gathered the three band mates two weeks before SXSW to play their first show during the festival. The band’s forthcoming first vinyl, “Don’t Be a Stranger”, is expected to be released this summer (have a preview below). Currently on a west coast tour, tonight we welcome them home!

Four-piece Austin indie-rock quartet Hundred Visions is a band you can move your feet to even if you don’t know the songs ahead of time. Hundred Visions have a certain charm to them, whether it is the strong percussion, old-school guitar sounds or the casual vocals. This group has captured the carefree spirit of America’s youth. Their secret weapon is well-crafted songs.
Love Inks

Love Inks is a minimalist-pop band reigning from Austin, Texas. The trio, comprised of Derek Brown, Kevin Dehan and Sherry LeBlanc, played Fun Fun Fun Fest in the fall and recently released a new album in February. City Slang, a label that has previously worked with bands such as Arcade Fire, released Love Inks’ last critically acclaimed release E.S.P. This purist band wanted to keep their instruments, guitar, bass and drum machine, individualized and natural. The Preservation is a blend of harmonies, driving guitars, bouncy pianos and an amalgam of American music that has come to define Austin bands in the past decade. With a repertoire that is clearly influenced by early 60's girl groups and chamber pop as well as the psych and garage rock from that era, the band also focuses on composition and songwriting that creates a modern sound. The band has released two LPs since their formation in 2009. The self-titled "The Preservation" recorded in a home studio in 2010 and "Two Sisters" recorded in 2011 at Public Hi-Fi in Austin, a studio built by Spoon drummer/producer Jim Eno. Tonight they will release their latest EP "Small Frame", which was produced by grammy winning engineer Brad Bell and recorded at the East Austin Studio Good Danny's.

It's been over five years since Ringo Deathstarr last played Homegrown Live. At that point they had just released their first EP and we were deeply in love with their fuzzy face melting shoegaze sound. Since then, they've released two full length albums, including last year's release "Mauve" and toured Europe, Japan and oh, yeah, went on tour supporting a little band called The Smashing Pumpkins.
Boyfrndz

Boyfrndz has captivated Austin with their rhythmic and head-bobbing noise-pop music. Joseph Raines (bass) and Scott Martin (guitar, vocals) formed the group in 2010 after their former band, We The Granada, ended. 2012 was a busy year for the band, releasing a five track album “And So it Goes…” in February and a full length album “All Day Pass” in September which gained the attention of Pitchfork. Currently they're teaming up once again with Mars Volta's keyboardist Ikey Owens to produce ...

Homegrown Live February 2nd Lineup!

Grape St.

Originally a side project, Grape St. was born from former Harlem band member Curtis O’Mara . The other band members include Aaron Sinclair from Frank Smith and Chris Castillo from the Stuffies. Even though the up and coming band was derived from players of other bands, it has created its own garage-pop sound. Their songs have an upbeat tempo that is perfect for dancing.
Growl

Growl is an indie-rock band that has quickly made an imprint in the Austin music scene. The band members include Kent Hale (drums), Sam Houdek ( guitar), Alex Cohen (keys, guitar, vocals), Santiago Dietche (guitar, vocals) and Jonny (bass, guitar, vocals). Growl members play music around Austin in the night but they are students at UT Austin during the day. They released an EP Demonstration and the single "Girlfriend" in 2012, displaying their delightful garage pop full of promise. Tonight they release "Gallery ...

Homegrown Live January Lineup!

The Tontons

It's funny. The Tontons don't have a readily available mainstream band to make an off-the-cuff comparison, so in this space we won't tell you they sound like Indie Flavor Of The Week or Noted And Weighty Classic Rock Name. The Tontons simply sound like the Tontons. That sounds like false bluster, but anyone who has been tracking them since 2008 will tell you the same thing. Up front is Asli Omar, that vocal vixen who can make men and rock nerds alike quake in their boots. Bassist Tom Nguyen, whose rumble forms the dermis of the band and then them boys Adam and Justin Martinez come in with titanic guitars and drums to make sure you are still moving your feet. This is a band that has been fully embraced by their native Houston, and the Tontons have hugged the city back with relentless gigging around town, and ...

Change in tomorrow's Homegrown Live lineup

Tomorrow continues Free Week with awesome shows all around town for free! O Conqueror
Quickly rising in the Austin scene, O Conqueror is a musical collective from Austin TX set to release their highly anticipated debut LP King Me November 16th. Established in 2011 by Dustin Doering (Guitar/Vox), Jonathan Baugh (Percussion/Keys/Vox), Justin Green (Lead Guitar/Multi Instrumentalist/Vox), and Tito Sopena (Bass Guitar), O Conqueror can best be described as tender, introspective, and packed with emotion. Their songs are dynamic, with long crescendos, great rhythms, unique instrumentation, and echoing vocals. A 3am driving alone with a broken heart kind of band.

The Couch is a 4-piece sweaty rock band based in Austin, TX. How they found each other involved many beers and various endeavors in the Austin music scene. The point is they are a group now and work ”very hard to make music people can sling whiskey to, get mad at, dance the night away to, and find lovin' at the end of it all.
Royal Forest

Royal Forest is a psychedelic rock band from Austin, Texas. They’ve received comparisons to Grandaddy, the Flaming Lips, and Spoon from such entities as MAGNET Magazine, NPR, and Flagpole Magazine. The band formed as Loxsly in 2004, and in 2010 rechristened themselves Royal Forest with the release of a self-titled EP. They’ve played dozens of shows throughout Texas, a handful of U.S. tours, and showcased at the CMJ Music Marathon (2009), the SXSW music festival (2007, 08, 09, 10, 11), and ...

Homegrown Live November 17th Lineup!

Oak is Keeping
Oak is Keeping is the outcome of mixing heavy, guttural guitars with astral harmonies and brash lyrical content, about everything from love to the human condition. This mixture produces a rock and roll sound that has been compared to the likes of Toadies, Alice & Chains and Queens of the Stone Age. Oak is Keeping have been playing around Texas and its surrounding states for over a year while Shay, Mastin, Zac and Adam wrote and recorded songs for their debut album, Animal Style! The record is full of double guitar attacks, driving beats, haunting melodies and powerful bass lines. The band's next EP, Doom Rainbow, didn't come out until late 2012, picking up right where the band left off.... Heavy riffs, sweet solos, dragon lightning bolts and some more sweet songs.
