The beginning of the beginning

So it's all begun...March is here and live music seemingly will take over this town (and my social life) for the next 7 months or so. Last week sorta kicked my ass, but it was a good, welcomed ass kick. Last Saturday brought Flogging Molly to Stubb's, I hosted a meet and greet with the band with some 101X listeners, it was my 2nd time to meet the band, totally nice guys, although I'm pretty sure they masquerade as leprechauns in their spare time, the show was cool, but I think I've decided that as far as the Irish style punk rock goes, I'm more of a Dropkicks guy. Wednesday night, Modest Mouse was at Stubb's, I managed to scrounge a ticket at the very last minute (thanks, "the weave") Every time I've seen MM, they've always left something to be desired, that night was no exception. They sounded ok, but many of the songs I wanted to hear were noticeably absent. Thursday's show at the Mohawk was awesome. Kool Keith / Dr Octo / Dr Doom / The Black Elvis owned. I've seen him before a few times and always thought he was krap live. Not this show, which included a 30 minute medley of the best lines from all of his ridiculous work. "Oh shi* there's a horse in the hospital!" Friday night was Cut // Copy at Stubb's, an awesome show too. Saturday night we rested, and rest up we all should as SXSW begins next week!!! Awwww SNAP!
