Bed Problems

Dear Diary

I told you yesterday that my boyfriend was moving in for a month this week. He actually stayed over last night, so I suppose that the month has begun. Jason, get the apple juice ready. Now regularly, we don’t see each other on Mondays. He works late and I have to get up early. But I wanted to say hi last night when he got home so I texted him and made him come upstairs. Yes, I had to text him. He said that he didn’t want to wake me up, but I’m pretty sure he didn’t come upstairs to see me because it wasn’t ‘our day’ to see each other. I told you he was weird! Anyway, that’s not what I want to talk about today. This morning when I woke up, this first morning of our one month stay together, I was facing a problem. ...

I'm All Fixed (Kind Of)

Dear Diary

I thought I’d give you a little back issue update. If you remember, last week I was heading to the doctors for an MRI. I had semi decided not to go as I was starting to feel better, but you guys all yelled at me that I needed to go anyway. Considering I had initially hurt my back on the 6th March, I thought I may as well go and get it done. I was also nervous that my insurance wouldn’t cover it. More so if I really was feeling better and didn’t need to get one done! Anyway, MRIs are funny. If you’ve never had one, let me tell you, they are noisy! I knew this going in so I was prepared to just lay there with all the noise going on, but to my surprise, I fell asleep! What a delightful nap. Except that, embarrassingly, ...

MRI Worries

Dear Diary

And now, for the latest installment in Deb’s Back is all Messed Up. I found out that I’ve got a ‘suspected’ torn disc a couple of weeks ago. Today I’m supposed to go for an MRI, which if you aren’t familiar with stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. I’ve got to lay, completely still, in a big giant tube that makes a lot of noises while it takes pretty pictures of my insides. My Doctor wants to see my insides in this very special way as I’ve still got a significant amount of pain. I guess the xrays he took don’t specifically tell him that my disc is torn, but the pain I’m experiencing and the area that it’s coming from tells him that. But this MRI will allegedly be conclusive. Here’s the thing: I might not even go. I swear my back feels a bit better, and ...

Air-Conditioned Bed

Dear Diary

I had the worst night’s sleep last night and it was awful as I had planned on a relaxing early night all day long. The plan was going well. I was all cosy in bed, nice and early. I’d had a warm bath and hot cup of chamomile tea and. I was even feeling all sleepy so I was expecting to just drift off into oblivion. But no. Dammit for some reason I just laid there. And laid there sweating as well  I might add. Since I hurt my back last month I’ve been using a heating pad for pain relief but last night, my AC had got switched off so the house was trying to cool down, and I was laying on a hot pad. When it came to sleep time, I was too hot! I tried to kick my feet out of the covers and ...

WTF Battery

Dear Diary

Let's chat about something that I believe plagues us all at some point, shall we? It's a plague that needs to be eradicated and maybe it's time the United Nations stepped in. I am of course talking about the ridiculously short battery life on the iPhone. I'm generally mildly perturbed when in the course of a normal day my phone takes a crap and falls asleep but I'm way beyond perturbed when my phone curls up and dies during SXSW. There are just too many things that hinge on being able to stay in touch with the world during SXSW, mr I'm-too-tired-to-stay-awake-for-longer-than-12hours-iPhone. So what is a girl to do? Buy a new one? Get a different phone? Or worse, get one of those giant battery life extender plug in thingies and walk around with a brick phone in my pocket? I don't know. United Nations? Can you ...
