ABOUT THE EVENT

From acl-live.com:

Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos with DeVotchKa and special guest Girl In A Coma

DeVotchKa is scheduled to play ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Saturday, November 2nd. The romantic rock band will take the stage for their annual Halloween performance with this year’s theme of Dia De Los Muertos.
For years DeVotchKa has been putting on legendary performances for Halloween.  Complete with full costumes, the Halloween shows are often the most talked about performances of the year. Guests this year can expect a fully decorated Moody Theatre and band, complete with intricate costumes encompassing this year’s theme of Dia De Los Muertos.

For more than a decade DeVotchKa has been melting its sweeping influences into an authentic and totally original blend of rock ‘n roll. DeVotchKa’s first big break happened when KCRW introduced LA listeners to DeVotchKa on Morning Becomes Eclectic. The directors of “Little Miss Sunshine” happened to be listening this fateful day, loved what they heard, and hired the band to write the score for their film. A critical and box office smash, the film was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar and, for DeVotchKa's soundtrack, a Grammy.  The little gypsy band from Denver was suddenly known all across the nation, playing large venues and major music festivals, including Coachella, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury. The love spread to Europe, which has become a yearly destination for the band.

Since Little Miss Sunshine front man Nick Urata has composed the scores for countless films including Crazy Stupid Love (Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore), Ruby Sparks (Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Annette Bening), and The Joneses (David Duchovny, Demi Moore, Gary Cole). Most recently, Urata composed the original music score for the anticipated biopic The Last Robin Hood, which chronicles the final days of legendary Hollywood actor Errol Flynn. Staring Dakota Fanning, Susan Sarandon, and Kevin Kline, the movie is slated for release later this year.

Coming off of a string of festival dates (Bunbury Music Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival) and amphitheatre shows (Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Hollywood Bowl) around the country, DeVotchKa takes the stage at ACL Live for a special performance. Hear DeVotchKa’s most iconic songs revisited in the intimate setting of ACL Live at The Moody Theater.
